To The Table

Foods / Cooking (creating confident, competent, and safe cooks)

As a society, we spend lots of time getting our young people ready for education and jobs that pay as much as possible. Yet, the basics of cooking healthy and delicious meals are few and far between in many of America's families. Many teens eat by themselves in their rooms munching on whatever was available at the local convenience store. Eating together as a family creates a feeling of belonging. Practicalities "To the Table" group program teaches teens to cook and encourages families to eat together when the meal is done. Non-profit organizations and other youth programs would ideally learn over the course of 6 - 8 weeks the basics of cooking - safety, sanitization, nutrition, workplace practices, dining etiquette, and getting along with others while getting a complete 4-course dinner on the table.  Expect to spend about 2 hours together.

This class is for students age 13 years and older. The class size is limited to 8 students.
